You could consider taking an oral steroid to reduce the inflammation.

You can take oral steroids at least twice in a year. The more times you take them, the greater risks for steroid induced complications.

    Hello dr…
My back and leg pain started once again…up by 5%…
    I travelled alot last 15 days…
I told my surgeon he said no need of mri just rest for 3 days and take painkillers…
Whats your suggestion why he is not recommending mri??

5% increased pain is not much in terms of impairing symptoms but still is somewhat concerning. I don’t’ want to dismiss what your physician is recommending. I assume you are doing “nerve flossing” exercises (essentially hamstring stretches on the leg pain side). These are important to stretch the nerve root carefully to allow better motion without pain.

Now, if you have not progressed, feel like you have plateaued in your improvement and are restricted in activities, a new MRI should be called for.
