    Hi as suggested i started hamstring stretches…n m doing it very gentle…
    Little bit of symptoms started once again…but say 2 to 3 % ….
    So shd i continue??

    There is the science and then the art of medicine. This is in the “art realm” I would say that you need to stretch the root but you have to be careful not to “piss it off”. Stretching and creating discomfort in the low single digits is acceptable. The nerve has to be stretched or you won’t be able to put on your shoes. Just be gentile.

    But usually how many months does it takes to completely heal up…

    Also doc my leg is feeling better day by day but my lower back pain has started little bit….
    I feel its coz of muscle spasam….
    When can i start with lower back srretching and strengthing…
    As right now m taking lot of care…
    No forward bending, no twisting,
    No sitting on floor, not lifting heavy weights…
    Its been 55 days past my surgery…

    Also when is it good time to take mri post surgery just for my reference i wanted to take as doc are saying not needed

    If you continue to make progress, there is no need for an MRI. Back pain after a disc herniation is not uncommon as after all, some of the jelly that is the cushion of the disc has “leaked out”. This means the disc will “settle” and will have to accommodate for this height loss. Core exercises are the order of the day.     You should be able now to start lower back exercises but be careful not to stretch the nerve root too much.
