Normally, I have my patients go through a physical therapy program starting 10 days post-op and most can be in the gym with some controls at 6 weeks. Post-op microdisc patients need to avoid squats and dead lifts. Endurance activities (stationary cycling and elliptical without arms) can be started within 5 days of surgery.

For my patients, most can start motorcycle riding on the street at 6 weeks on a cruiser and 8-10 on a sports bike. I somewhat depends upon the progress made in physical therapy.
