I’m still not certain if I had a laminectomy and disectonmy based on MRI report. Or was it word that way since there was a fragment from disk that broke off. Or was it removed at time or laminectamy and herinated.

The will be difficult to ascertain. You can read the operative report to get a sense of the surgery.

Surgeon finding were the following. He said Laminectomy (bone removal) was done on right and left side. He stated there was no discectomy done for a bulge at the time and they don’t do discectomy for bulges. Also stated this could have happen regardless of a bulge being removed.

He also said there is no tissue graph over bone that was removed. He stated that is temporary and dissolves over time (already dissolved).

The herniated disk fragment that he stated detected is not free floating 100% but it is in the spinal canal. He stated if left there for a long period of time (6-12 months) it could be fusioned or attached permanently within the spinal canal. Hen stated the stenosis is back and the more severe he ever seen it with the fragment in the canal.

He said I can get an injection when I brought that up but that will only help with pain if I had any. I told him I hardly have any pain and he said stenosis different for everyone.

Back to the fragment. If I get a discectomy he would basically get the fragment out of the canal and that would get rid of the stenosis. He said even if I get a discectomy I can herniate again unless I got the fusion surgery to remove the entire disk.

He also stated the large fragment is crushing several nerves (L4, L5, S10 He also stated the fragment on the bladder nerves as well when I asked. Also if I have trouble urinating or can hold urine or stool to go to emergency room

I ask what to avoid doing, he said bending, twisting or heavy lifting.
