Post operative rehabilitation is essential to regaining strength, balance, endurance and conditioning after surgery. Some exercises are initially contraindicated (such as immediate range of motion after a fusion) and some are essential for preventing scar formation (nerve glides after a decompression). Most of the time, a physical therapy program will be prescribed so that advancement will be supervised by a specialist.
The below exercises are strictly for patients who have had surgery at our clinic. Other surgeons may use very different rehabilitation protocols and these are not recommended unless your surgeon has read and agreed with these.
- Care and Feeding of Your New Neck
- Lifting Techniques
- “Around The World” Neck Exercises
- “Yes-No” Neck Exercises
- “Neck Situp” Exercises
- “Hamstring Stretches” Exercises (Post Operative)
