how do I go from Italy and stay there a month for the controls?
I spend that are in trouble ‘just pay me the flight of the plane?
I would come again tomorrow morning, but I think the cost of the intervention is too high for me.
But if ‘really fancy them to come to you, I think we do a media event in the world ..

Sorry to hear the state of affairs in the spine world in Italy.

Patients who come for surgery generally need two visits. The first is for the introduction, a thorough history and physical examination, review of any images and the possible order of new images. This visit might also be needed for further diagnostics such as injections.

When the diagnosis is certain, then the second visit is for the actual surgery. Prior to that surgical visit, preparation is made for surgery. This might include blood donation, workups for other medical problems (hypertension, cardiac disease, pulmonary or kidney disease) and other testing and modification as necessary (stress testing or medication modification).

There are occasions that only one visit is necessary such as an obvious disc herniation causing leg pain without other possible pain generators.

I try not to know what reimbursements are for various procedures as I do not want financial decisions to sway my diagnosis and treatment patterns. I am sure that surgery is expensive. You can call my nurses and inquire if you so choose.

I do not know how to help you wind your way through the Italian system but I am here for advice should you find a treatment pathway in Italy that you have questions about.
