I had a severe reaction to cipro. I’ve been in severe pain in my whole body since Jan.10,2018. With the pain medicine and medical cannabis I can now describe and pinpoint some of my pain symptoms. With this new ability I have had a MRI of my right arm and they found a large tear in my labium with a cyst. However, the surgeon was sure that I also have something wrong with my neck because there is too much pain just for it to be just my shoulder. I have since had a MRI of my neck and they found a bulging disc and narrowing of my nerves. My question is: In your opinion which should I get taken care of first? I am on a waiting list right now for a spine dr appointment.

First, you need to find out how much pain the neck condition is causing. I would think some time with a spine surgeon to assess your symptoms and then a selective nerve root block would be in order to find out how much the disc bulge and nerve compression is causing into your shoulder.

Follow up: I have seen 2 neck/spine dr’s so far. 1st didn’t look at neck at all, he did the push, pull, walk.. then said I needed to go to PT to train my brain that I didn’t hurt. He said like when a leg is amputated and the brain still thinks it hurts. I tried explaining that nothing has been fixed so how can my brain be trained to not feel the pain. The 2nd said a bulging disc does not cause pain, and wants me to see a pain counselor to figure out how to live with the pain the rest of my life.
I made an appointment with a third that I was to see in Sept. After seeing my MRI they called to have me come in in July (the soonest app.they had).
Thank you for your recommendation, I had no idea where I should start.

You first need to find your pain generator. This could be through diagnostic injections of the discs, nerves or facets. See
