I had a c6-7 prestige artificial disk replacement in Dec. 2012, the first 3 months I felt I was healing post surgery. After that a rapid decline, starting with pain in neck- base of head, feeling that my head was too heavy to hold up, then things got worse, chronic pain in neck- shoulders, was told I could have fibromyalgia, then polymyalgia rumatica, now having pain “all over”. Long story short I’m 40 going on 90, my body does not like this metal is my guess entirely. I want it out, what could be done to help me regain my life. Miserable is a understatement. Thank you for your time.

Cervical artificial disc replacements can “go bad” and are relatively easy to remove and convert of an ACDF (anterior cervical decompression and fusion). You do have to make sure that this is the problem and no other levels are also pain generators.
