    Hi Dr Corenman,

My ESR increase from 40 to 54 within 3 days, and my CRP increase from 5.5 to 9.3

My doctor want to give me anti inflammasi cataflam. Not antibiotics.
He said that indicator of infection is wbc and neutropil.

I see another doctor and he want to give me antibiotics IV for 2 weeks together with oral, after 2 weeks will be evaluated by blood check.

My neurological defisit increasing day by day. Im afraid i will no longer have bowel and bladder control. Since from last MRI a week ago, the infection reach my spinal canal, going to L4 and S2

ESR and CRP are the two most sensitive general labs for infection. The numbers should be going down. Going up generally indicates an advancing infection. The typical protocol (assuming the infecting bacteria has been identified) is 6 weeks IV of the appropriate antibiotic. Your treatment was inadequate and you need to find a spine doctor who can treat you appropriately and somewhat quickly too.

Strangely, none of the doctors i met seems really concerned about this desease. I feel neglected. They think im overreacted.

My new doctor said, after two weeks he will check the blood result and if it is not improved, there is a chance he will performed surgery from anterior to clean the inside.

This doctor said that its hard to identify the type of bacteria. So he will give me brodced 2gr everyday from IV.

If a week after antibiotics i took blood check resulting increasing ESR and CRP, does it mean this antibiotics is not working too?

My first doctor told me they gave me 2 kinds of antibiotics, it should be covered all kind of bacteria.

When hospitalized my red blood count decreasing and i have blood transfer. Then slowly after home it is increasing back to normal. Today my rbc going down again. Is it related? All my life i have normal rbc, so i confuse why now i have rbc below normal.

Boy, where do I start? The bacteria that is causing the infection needs to be identified either by a blood culture (they take your blood when you are having a fever) to culture it or they do a needle aspiration of the infection site to identify the organism (when you are off antibiotics). Instead of a major anterior surgical procedure, they should do the right thing and cure you of this infection before you need an anterior fusion.

I went to another doctor (3rd hospital) to get another opinion, and he requested for blood culture and CRP tb (just in case). I have no fever now. And he said maybe blood culture will clean. Because it should be done before treatment to ensure what kind of bacteria i have, but still we have to try. The result will be available a week later.

In the meantime im on IV antibiotics home care for 2 weeks. (This one treated by 2nd hospital)

I already went to 3 hospitals, and the last doctor who req for blood culture said it needs minimum 4 weeks antibiotics IV continued by MRI after that to ensure it is clean. At least now i got doctor who implement standard protocol. I hope its not too late.
