You do not describe the disorder that is compressing your nerves. Is it stenosis, herniated disc, degenerative spondylolisthesis or ????

If it is a standard herniated disc compressing the nerve root, then a microdiscectomy in good hands has about a 95% success rate. There is a 10% recurrance rate (even if you do not have surgery).
