Thanks Doc. Your advice is much appreciated. I will keep all this in mind as I go see the neurosurgeon tomorrow morning.

After getting another opinion, I have decided to get another microdiscectomy for now. Hope that is the right decision. Thanks for providing the clarity to help make that choice, doc.

    Doc,

Wanted to run a few things by you and see what you thought given how helpful your advise has been.

    1. My symptoms continue to improve. No sciatica whatsoever, low back pain which is manageable without any meds at all, no leg strength issues. My microdiscectomy is scheduled on 29th and, given the large herniation, I intend to proceed with it. Good choice or should I start considering no surgery?

    2. Can you foresee a scenario where I end up postponing fusion for an extended period of time, if not completely avoiding it? I mean my L4-L5 looks pretty bad on MRI. Is the fusion just a matter of time?

    3. Have a 2 week trip planned halfway across the world to Asia over Christmas. Long flights but will fly business class mostly and stay in luxury hotels. Would you even consider such a trip about 3.5 months after microdiscectomy or is it time to start thinking alternate plans?
