    9 yr old did some stretching in karate, stood against wall with leg raised in the air, while another child pushed leg upwards in the air and then pushed towards the body, got a bit of pain in her hip at back of her bottom, couldnt get on the step of the bus without help , got home limping couldnt fully sit on the toilet , 5 days later still complaining of pain in her hip at the side and lower back, keeps getting pins and needles in her foot and in her bottom , plus she is always walking on her tiptoes , on the leg that she hurts

    There are multiple disorders that can be present here. The stretch that you describe could cause a labral tear of the hip joint, a stretch of the sciatic nerve, a disc herniation (yes-even in a 9 year old), a partial avulsion of the hamstring tendon or an aggravation of an isthmic spondylolisthesis.

    For these complaints 5 days later with continuing and non-improving symptoms, I think she needs a work-up. The question is with whom? Some pediatricians may not have the expertise to diagnose this disorder but some do. You might start there but don’t let this physician state that nothing is wrong. An orthopedist might be a good choice if the pediatrician cannot find the cause of symptoms.
