“Cervical Angina” is radiculopathy (nerve compression and irritation) of the C4 nerve which exits between C3 and C4. This condition mimics cardiac problems as the distribution is over the same area that a “heart attack” or cardiac disease would refer to. Cervical angina has paresthesias (pins and needles) and pain that radiate over the shoulder and radiate into the anterior chest towards the nipple. The difference is that there would be no numbness (loss of sensation of touch) with real cardiac disease but numbness would generally be present with a nerve compression syndrome.

You should consider a selective nerve root block of the areas of proposed surgery and then see if this block can give you temporary relief. If this block does not give you relief, then it is unlikely that the proposed surgery will be helpful.
