Thank you. I was given your name from a brother of a friend of mine and he had good things to say. If I came to your clinic, would it be a long drawn out process or could you verify your diagnosis off my films and come up with a treatment option within a couple trips to your clinic? Like I said, I live in western Oregon but if I have to travel to get my life back and have to pay for it out of pocket, I will. I can get a referral to another doctor in the area if you prefer.

For what I call a “long distance consult”, you can send your films and previous consults and I will review them and give you my first impression. Of course, I cannot recommend specific treatment unless I see you in the office for a formal history and physical examination with review of all records.

I have been waiting for my films for quite a while now so I will try to get them again and I’ll email you when I have sent them. It may be a couple of weeks but I’d really like for you to see them. At that time, I’d like to get your take on artificial disc replacement if surgery is the diagnosis. Don’t feel obligated to respond. We can communicate after the films are in the mail. Thank you Dr. Corenman.

I think that cervical (neck) artificial disc replacement has some good indications but I can tell you that I am not a fan at this point of artificial disc replacement in the lumbar spine (please see section on disc replacement surgery on the website). There needs to be development of a better disc replacement before I will endorse this procedure for the lumbar spine.

Hi again doctor. I did forget to mention that I have had back pain off and on since I was very young. Sports almost always would get the pain flared up but it wouldn’t last for more than a week or two. Since about four years ago it has hurt everyday. My wife asked me to pass that along to you and I also wonder if you know if blue cross blue shield would insure me at your facility?
