in reply to: Severe calf muscle cramping post op L5-S1 fusion.. #22372
Doug,
Would you be so kind as to contact me at [email protected] or on this site ? I have the same exact lumbar issue and was recommended the same surgery at the Cleveland Clinic; I was thinking about scheduling it this week and wanted to see what your experience was!!!
After reading Dr. Corneman’s remarks for several years regarding removing the pars defect, I am probably now going to switch to TLIF.
Thank you!
in reply to: Pars Injections #22272Thank you. There will always be some doubt that the steroid could have saved me from surgery however unlikely it is!
Perhaps I will try again.
Question. My physiatrist said I had at least a year of rehab after the surgery. He said there was a certain progression to be followed by a rehab specialist. Not as simple as just getting the surgery and walking around.
What are your thoughts on the rehab process ?
in reply to: L5,S1 Spondy #22254Thank you ! This all extremely helpful. Is it a regular CT scan or a CT scan with dye ?
My surgeon did say there was a bone spur but it did not need to be removed because I have no leg pain and as long as I have no back pain it could be left where it is. Very confusing topic for patients ! You are the best. Thank you again !
in reply to: L5,S1 Spondy #22242Is there a CAT scan or MRI that cAN check for bone spurs?
in reply to: L5,S1 Spondy #22240What about microdisectomy to remove disc left over fragment ??
Very sorry for all
The questions !in reply to: L5,S1 Spondy #22234Actually. I’m sorry. Just re read your last comment and it mskes sense now !
So after the ALIF if there is still pain I assume a laminectomy would need to be done with possible microdisectomy ? Seems like a big risk to take.
