Your uncle might have a rheumatological condition (an autoimmune disorder) that causes inflammation or an infection (more likely). If it is an infection, this disorder obviously needs to be treated. If the spine is infected and he has a sequestrum (a part of the spinal bone that is “dead” or a pocket of pus-an abcess), this needs to be surgically drained or removed. That is assuming the infection is not tuberculosis which needs an entirely different treatment protocol.

What he needs is identification of the disorder. This means at least blood cultures and probably a biopsy to identify the causative agent. This cannot wait for films to be delivered for my perusal.
