    Hello again Dr. Corenman,

Unfortunately, after being in a brace for 10 weeks, and doing 5 weeks of PT (2x/week), Haley is again in pain after returning to tennis. Her jaw surgeon has postponed her jaw surgery to Sept/Oct so we are wondering if now is the time to look into getting her pars defect repaired? My concerns are 1) is it feasible to have the surgery in Colorado if we live in Florida? How long would we need to be out there? and 2) is it even possible to help Haley with this surgery given that she also has spina bifida occulta, a 7mm break in the right pars, and a grade 1 slippage already? She is really a great kid and is having such a tough time with all this hitting at once. I would truly appreciate your advice. Thank you!

I would have to review all her films (X-rays, CT scan and MRI) before I could tell you what the chances of pars repair vs fusion would be. Also, it would be helpful to review the program of physical therapy that she was been through.

About 1/2 of my patients come from out of state so we are well prepared to help you with travel, hotels and transportation. Normally, if a patient has a pars repair, the hospital time is overnight and the stay in the Vail valley is about 3 days.
