    Hello dr,is their a difference findings on a standing x-ray or lying down?Last week went for an ankle x-ray but could not stand on block,to painfull on the heel.Today i receive the dr notes stating i did the standing x-ray,i called the office spoke with the tech that did the x-ray he said is no diffence,but he could have the dr change it on his notes.

    It really depends upon the joint being viewed. Knee X-rays should be taken when standing, hips do not need standing views. Ankles are relatively stable so standing X-rays should not make a big difference. If the joint is very degenerative, standing might help to diagnose instability but you can make that decision when the X-rays are viewed (presuming that the X-rays are taken in the office of the doctor you are seeing).
