I have had 10 spine operations due to surgeon incompetence and several misdiagnoses. My last was just recently Oct 2023 T9-L2. Previously L2-S1 was fused but the surgeon failed to correct sagittal balance and I was left with hyperlordosis.
To get to the point, after this last surgery I have fallen into deep depression. About 2 months ago I resumed smoking which I had kicked a decade ago. The graft used was rhBMP2 Infuse along with Grafton DBM. I am also using Forteo daily. Will these measures offset the known deleterious effects of smoking? My last three surgeries ended in pseudoarthrosis.
I am quitting today after my last pack. I feel like the idiot I am but I am so depressed after 9 years of back pain and being unable to work or do anything and am 99% housebound.
    Thank you Dr Corenman
