    I notice some when my son gets x rays for has lower back the doctor never really bother to shieild him, why is that, and also should I be worried about the x rays future effects on his kids?

    In general, you do need to be concerned about exposure to X-rays. Shielding is something that some but not all physician offices do. Proper collimation (reducing the field of the X-ray beam) is important. In a child, shielding is also important. The problem is that on some occasions, the shield might inadvertently block an important part of the skeleton requiring a repeat X-ray (depending upon the skill of the technician taking the film).
