I had a lidocaine injection in left shoulder for an MRI with contrast. Shoulder felt great for 2-3 days after!

I don’t recall if it helped the myofacial pain on left side of neck or the pain at c5-c6, however.

1.) would you suggest a lidocaine injection at C5-c6 ?

2.) Would you suggest an epidural or facet block at c5-c6 ?

Is it possible that both are pain generators ?

I wish you were told to pay more attention to neck pain relief when you had your shoulder injection. Let us assume that the neck pain did not get substantially better from the shoulder block.

A facet block is a good way to go now. With a positive block (see pain diary), you could undergo rhizotomies (or ablations-same thing) which could save you a neck surgery. If there is compression of the C6 nerve at the C5-6 level, a SNRB (see website) could give you enough relief to consider an ACDF (fusion-see website). If neither of these blocks are effective, you then might consider a discogram to look for a neck pain generator.
