Your information is not complete so what I glean from this is that you had a “cyst” at T10-11 that was probably causing canal compression and had an emergency surgery to remove it. You then developed a subsequent staph infection and have been on antibiotics for 40 weeks????
Normally, a staph infection is treated for 6 weeks with IV access antibiotics and 6 weeks with oral antibiotics so I am unclear why your treatment is so prolonged. Maybe, you had a fusion with metal hardware and they are trying to suppress the infection until you develop a fusion and then remove the hardware?
Did you have an anterior approach (thru the belly) which is why you complain of your stomach muscles?
