    My mom is suffering from slip disc and dr advised her ozone discetomy & tranoformial injection of l4-l5 & l5-s1.
    Please advise if this treatment is safe.

    A “slipped disc” is an old term that in today’s world unfortunately does not translate into an accurate description of the pathology. “Slipped disc” could mean a disc tear, a herniaton or even a degenerative or isthmic spondylolisthesis (see website for information on those disorders).

    Transforaminal injections, if performed with injectable steroids are a good treatment for the pain generated by many spinal disorders. I am not a fan of ozone as this is a corrosive agent and can injure nerve roots.
