I have herniated discs @ l4 and l5 .I have had 2 epidurals 3 years apart. My last one was this week in Sante Fe. The doctor recommends not skiing anymore. My wife and I own a home in Vail and have been skiing most of our lives. I exercise strenuously 5 times a week (cardio , stretching , swimming) and really want to continue skiing . Do you have patients with this same problem who ski ?????

I treat US ski team members who have herniated discs and compete at an international level. It really depends upon the size and location of the herniation, the symptoms without and with the athletic stress and what restrictions occur based upon the pain and dysfunction. In the right patient, disc herniations may not matter. I cannot answer your question as the variables are too great.
