I had fusion surgery 6 1/2 years ago at c5/6. The remaining side effect is choking when I eat. This has become more and more severe as the years pass. Will it eventually level off, and possibly get better? My current surgeon says I am probably leveled off by now and it will probably stay with me for the rest of my life. Would you agree?

After 6.5 years, the swallowing problem is likely to be permanent but more research needs to be undertaken. X-rays to look for bone spur formation that can lead to dysphagia need to be completed. A swallowing study performed by an ENT physician can also help lead to a diagnosis.
