    Dear Dr. Corenman,

    I am not sure if you will be able to help me. I would like to start a pilates exercise programe for isthmic spondylolisthesis grade 1, however, I am not sure what exercises to avoid, besides those that would put my back in hiper extention. Besides this, I would like to ask if my spondylolisthesis l5 s1 would be likely to autofuse and if that would reduce my symptoms? I don’t have a lot of pain, apart from a tired feeling in the lower back when I walk more than 3 miles. I am guessing I should push myself harder, despite the core exercises I have been doing to reduce this symptoms? Thank you once again for being so kind as to taking the time to anser me.

    Pilates is important for isthmic spondylolisthesis. Core strength is important as is avoiding much extension. Impact activities can be difficult in some people and modifications may need to be made in lifestyle choices. You might consider cycling instead of hiking/walking.
