    Hello,

I came across your site while exploring how nerves are damaged and regenerate. I had an l4/5 herniation eight months ago. The pain subsided by month three and numbness is just now dissipating. I still have a “heavy” right leg, slight quad atrophy, and 10-15% weaker. I am willing to try surgery if it is my best chance at getting my strength back (43yrs old). Doctors have said “painless weakness doesn’t always get best surgical results, but it may help you” Just curious based on your understanding of nerve healing, if my window for motor function and strength returning is still open with or without surgery?
