My mother has just been diagnosed w a T12 fracture, which we believe was precipitated by an awkward bending motion, and as the result of osteoporotic bones, perhaps advanced by long term prednisone therapy to treat another condition. She has a lengthy orthopedic history, with two hip replacements, a knee replacement, a couple carpal tunnel surgeries, all of these preceded by a few broken legs in her younger years. Further, she is also on a Coumadin regimen after a DVT suffered a year or so ago.
I’m a happy former patient of yours (see user name) and wonder if kyphoplasty is indicated (obviously an exam is req’d) and if so…should it be very soon, or, would her otherwise health prevent such a procedure or is it contraindicated in patients who are either a: on prednisone, and/or b: Coumadin?
Thanks,
