I rec’d heavy blows to my spine from 4 to 15. I also have the results of untreated scoliosis, although I believe that particular part is not that bad comparatively.
Since February of 13, it’s been treated with injections, which work temporarily, but some help is better than no help.

I am so sorry to hear of your childhood. No one deserves that experience. Yes-it is possible that the beatings you took are a source of your degenerative changes but these changes can also be from genetic liabilities.

To determine pain generators, there are some important clues in the history and physical examination. Incorporate these findings with the imaging (X-rays, MRI and possibly CT scan) and a differential diagnosis can be formed. This is like a line-up of perpetrators. You are trying to find the guilty party, the one (or ones) that are causing your pain. This might require a diagnostic injection workup of selective nerve root blocks, discograms or facet blocks. Once the pain generators are discovered, then a plan (surgery or otherwise) can be entertained to solve the problem.
