What can you do for someone who survived child abuse that left them with no disks and very little mobility at 47? The pain is immense, mostly it’s the rapid loss of mobility and strength that worry me the most. Is there any hope besides injections for the pain? My L1 and L2 are the worst, but my entire spine has been affected.

Disc height loss can occur from wear due to impact or from genetics. Weakness is unusual for disc disease unless there is nerve compression or pain inhibition. There is no “cure” but there is treatment from conservative measures (preferred-see https://neckandback.com/treatments/conservative-treatment-mechanical-lower-back-disorders/) to some surgical measures.

A form letter is not the answer I was looking for. Specifics to my condition. I really need help, not a form letter. This damaged spine is from severe child abuse, even help in any ONE of the areas would make a difference.
    Please, no form letters though.

You want a complete answer and treatment plan but your information provided is very rudimentary. I understand your pain from child abuse and with physical trauma, you could have had spine injury. I cannot help you unless you can be very specific with what injuries you had, what work-up you underwent and what your imaging described. I have no “form letters” on the website. Every topic is a specific discussion of a particular problem that can cause pain or dysfunction.

I apologize for speeding to an unfair conclusion. I will be the first to admit I am very hopeless, raw, depressed, and frustrated from this condition. I apologize.
I met you in 03 when a friend was injured. We spoke then regarding my occasional very debilitating thoracic pain and cramping, but I had not had xrays and did not know the extent of the damage. Shoulders/neck are arthritic, very little disks throughout, the spasming and cramping are debilitating and tear-making.The Lombar causes unreal pain and cramping. I will not take pain meds for this, opiates, etc., bc of the type of person I am, and it would be, in my head, letting them (my perpetrators) win.
I have moved closer so I could hopefully connect with you about my broken back.
    I am truly sorry.

About a month ago, my Lombar seemed to ‘give-out’ per se. It’s painful too. My legs ‘accordion’ and I go to the ground. I’ll attempt to stand/put weight on them, and electricity starts shooting, psiatic pain out of this world at the same time, ouch. Ouch.
Could we maybe see if my xrays can make it your way and if there is any hope? I haven’t had an imaging work-up in a couple years, but do have recent images of my lower area. It always feels like I am walking with a hernia as well. My Lombar has no arch, they pulverized it out of me at 7. I fall a lot.
Darn, I am so sorry for jumping to conclusions.
