    Dear dr

    2 questions:
1)My rx shows no bony bridge 6 months post op, acdf with peek cage + self tapping screws.

I am 40y male, no alcohol, no tobacco, do have RA, have eaten lot’s of dairy post op and take a calcium and vitamin supplement. What more can I do?
Could a bone growth stimulator help?

2)Pre op: The level above my fusion showed a mediane protrusion without myelumcompression.
And 6 months post op (with twice a week PT), the same level is showing a mild bulging disc with no compression. Is this possible? Can a protrusion really disappear? MRI was taken on same machine, but a different radiologist. I do feel less burning pain.

Bone growth simulators can occasionally be effective in a situation like yours and there is no downside that I am aware of. I assume you have had a CT scan as this is the best tool to judge if this graft has a chance of going on to fusion. Is there any haloing of the screws or the cage around the bone? This indicates motion and if so, there is less chance of a fusion occurring.

Yes, a protrusion can shrink down over time.
