I was just diagnosed with Parsonage Turner syndrome after having xray, ultrasound, and EMG.

Unfortunately, there is not a lot of information on this condition and studies that I can find are just regurgitation or just reviews of previous case studies. There doesn’t seem to be anything current.

I am fortunate in that I got this diagnosis within 1 months of symptom onset. However, the occupational therapist I’ve been seeing doesn’t quite know how to proceed with treatment as she has never had someone with PTS. We have previously been doing exercises to help strengthen rotator cuff muscles.

What should be the goals of therapy? Are there things that should be avoided in both therapy and in my personal life/activities?

Also, I have minimal pain at the moment. Should I expect my pain to increase/worsen as nerves start to heal and reinnervate?

I look forward to your response! Thank you!
