    Hi,

My problems started about three years ago, with pain behind the right ear
and around side and on top of head, slowly it has become worse with pain across bottom of head, through to the jaw and teeth up the back of the head and on top (Both sides or one side) and a pulling feeling inside right ear. everyday, some days worse than others.

Limited rotation to the right and the right muscles are really tight and have been for many years due to a couple of accidents in the past.

MRI looks ok and have tried all chiropractic measures, botox in the muscles and an array of tablets.

Last week i had a bilateral c2 nerve block but nothing has changed.

Desperate for some suggestions, have discussed possible c1 c2 nerve block and possible ultra sound on nerves at back of head (sorry can’t remember what they are called.

    Thanks.

I normally never order a C1-2 block unless there is significant evidence of degenerative changes of C1-2 (or occiput-C1) through an MRI and a CT scan. This block is specialized and only a few do it throughout the country.

The MRI changes of degenerative facet disease are commonly missed and a CT scan can elucidate the diagnosis if present.

You can have greater occipital neuralgia unrelated to the facets which can cause your symptoms.
