For 2 years I’ve had a stabbing and pinching pain in my neck. I’ve had facet joint injections and epidurals at the C6 area, and none have worked. I don’t have tingling or numbness, but I do have stabbing a sharp/dull ache. Pain never runs past my elbow, that is if a have any, not very frequent.

I’ve enclosed my MRI results below. Is this a nerve or a muscle issue? Should I see a Neurosurgeon? Any thoughts? Thanks!

    EXAMINATION: MRI CERV SPINE

TECHNIQUE: Multisequence multiplanar MRI of the cervical spine was
    performed without contrast.

    EXAMINATION DATE: 3/5/2017 12:27 PM

    COMPARISON/CORRELATION: 05/20/2015

    CLINICAL HISTORY: cervical radiculopathy

    FINDINGS:

The vertebral body heights and alignment are within normal limits.

There is no evidence of traumatic injury.

Bone marrow signals within normal limits.

Prevertebral soft tissues are within normal limits.

    The craniovertebral junction is unremarkable.

C2-C3: There is no spinal canal or neuroforaminal stenosis.

C3-C4: There is no spinal canal stenosis. There is minimal left
    neuroforaminal stenosis.

C4-C5: There is a tiny left paracentral disc protrusion. There is no
    spinal canal stenosis.

C5-C6: There is a broad base right paracentral disc protrusion which
is effacing the ventral cerebral spinal fluid and flattening the
ventral spinal cord. There is moderate to severe right neuroforaminal
stenosis. There is moderate left neuroforaminal stenosis.

C6-C7: There is a broad-based is protrusion with effacement of the
ventral cerebrospinal fluid. There is bilateral uncovertebral joint
    arthropathy.

    IMPRESSION:

    1. Multilevel degenerative changes are seen throughout the cervical
spine which are most significant at C5-C6 where there is
moderate/severe right and moderate left neuroforaminal stenosis.

You don’t note what side the arm pain nor the “pinching” pain is on. You also don’t note if the epidural injection gave you temporary diagnostic relief (for the first 3 hours after the injection).

The stabbing is on the left, and so is the pinching. The pinching is right below my neck on the left side of my spine. The epidurals gave NO relief. Either did the facet injections. If I get arm pain it’s on the left also, however, I get no numbness or tingling.

    Any thoughts?
