Hello Dr. Corenman .
My sister is 33 year-old and the severity of the suffering in the lower back pain and numbness of his feet.
These MRI slide Images :And this is LSSP MRI :
Is this the patient needs surgery? What treatment ?
please please answer me ..
Thank you .The report notes a disc herniation of L5-S1 that compresses the nerve roots bilaterally. Your sister may have lower back pain from this herniation. Normally, with a very degenerative disc at L5-S1 and all other discs being normal, a fusion of this level could be recommended. In your sisters case however, it might be that a simple microdiscectomy might be in order. If she has not yet had an epidural steroid injection among her treatments (I would assume physical therapy, oral medications and activity modification), that should be the next step.
