I’m a 26 y/o F with no pMHx just beginning my residency and intern year. I have been having 6 months of radicular pain and symptoms of numbness tingling and shooting pain in my left leg traveling from my back to glute to lateral side of my leg to my pinky toe. It feels asif though a fishing rod was being pulled taut and I have SLR+ even 20 degrees above bed. Stoop positive. After 6 months of being told it was anxiety or muscular, I finally was able to get an MRI that showed A large 1.9 CM transverse x .9 CM AP x1.1 CM extrusion impinging the left lateral recess and S1 and s2. I have trialed PT NSAIDs oral steroids gabapentin muscle relaxers and nothing has helped. Is microdisectomy the only option here? Given your clinical experience and the size I’d appreciate guidance. It is difficult to deal with this as I start my career in medicine as well.
