    Hello doctor I`m 37 and I`m from Portugal
    Recently I discover that I have at least 7 Hernias in my back 5 cervical and 2 lumbar / C2-C3 C4-C5 C5-C6 C6-C7 C7-D1 as well as L4-L5 L5-S1 in your opinion is it safe to get neck surgery? And if its safe what would you recomend,fusion or disk replacement?

    The fact that you have at least seven herniated discs in your neck and back indicates a genetic preponderance for degenerative disc disease. The presence of these disc herniations does not mean that all or even any of them have to be symptomatic.

    There are specific surgical treatments for each disorder (if surgery is even necessary) including, microdiscectomy, posterior foraminotomy, ACDF and artificial disc replacement. Please see the description of each surgery on this website and what specific disorders the surgery is targeted for.
