33, I have a herniated disk between c5c6. 1st round of steroid injections have done nothing to alleviate pain. Nor has physical therapies. Right side neck, trapezius, and shoulder pain radiating down arm to thumb…muscle spasm in the tapezius as well. Doctor wants me to do another round of injections before ADR surgery. Any other options or advise?

I have been also been having symptoms off and on since 2010. Usually they go away in a couple of weeks. I have now been in pretty constant pain since December of 2018…

If you have failed conservative therapies including epidural injections and continue to have significant symptoms from this herniation, you would be a candidate for an ACDF or an ADR. As long as you don’t have motor weakness, then another series of injections might be helpful but with the law of diminishing returns (if the first one doesn’t work, why would the next one work?). If you have motor weakness, I would recommend only surgery.
