    Dr C

I was given a spinal simulator after 2 weeks which I used with regularity. I have ordered all my imaging reports and will share that with the forum. In tandem, I will be going to for a second opinion. Thank you again. Despite the issue, the severe arthritic pain is gone, and that’s win for me.

A “spinal stimulator” could be of two different functions. There are the TENS units (transcutaneous electrical neural stimulators) which are designed to reduce pain and then magnetic stimulators which are designed to create a magnetic field to supposedly induce bone formation. There are also the implantable stimulators which are designed to reduce leg pain.

Please let us know about the second opinion.

Dr C, this is the summary of my CAT scan:(clearly much more written, but this is the part that discussed the fusion issue)

L4 L5 interbody fusion device shows incomplete bony fusion. There is also increased mild L4/5 end plate sclerosis and mild deformity and depression of the upper L5 vertebral end-plate. Finding compatible with subsidence. There is minimal anterolisthesis L4/5.

I hope you can assist and i will be going for a second opinion.

    Thanks

    Steven

Endplate sclerosis and subsidence typically means that the fusion will not progress and a pseudoarthrosis (lack of fusion) will be the expected result. I think a second opinion will be helpful.

    Dr C

Did the summary from the CAT scan shed any light on the incomplete fusion? I am perusing a second opinion so i know what are my options. I am taking some pain meds to control (one percoset a day, lowest dose). Im simply concerned that something was missed and wasn’t addressed during the surgery.

Thank you Dr C, I missed your response. This is somewhat depressing since I did everything I could think of to fuse and become healthy. My surgeon recommended I strengthen my core. I will keep you and the forum updated on my progress.
