    Hello Dr. Corenman,

I recently had an MRI because of chronic headaches, neck muscle spasms, and at times tingling and numbness in my hands/fingers. I have not seen a specialist yet and wanted to understand the MRI report. I have been having issues for about two years.

Findings: Alignment of the cervical spine is maintained. No abnormal signal characteristics of the bone marrow can be identified. No evidence for fracture or significant bone or edema can be seen. The surrounding soft tissues are unremarkable. Normal signal characteristics of the spinal cord are noted.

    C2-C3: Unremarkable
C3-C4: Broad-based disk ridging with mild uncovertebral hypertrophy causing minimal narrowing of the neural foramen and central canal but no significant stenosis.
C4-C5: Broad-based disk ridging with mild uncovertebral hypertrophy causing mild left-sided neural foraminal narrowing.
C5-C6: Broad-based disc osteophyte complex with mild uncovertebral hypertrophy causing mild to moderate bilateral neural foraminal narrowing.
C6-C7: Broad-based disk ridging with mild neural foraminal narrowing.
    C7-T1: Unremarkable

Impression: Multilevel degenerative changes as above most notably at C5-C6 with mild to moderate bilateral neural foraminal narrowing.
