    hi my name is john i am from ireland i have very bad back pain for the last 4 or 5 years.i have been in hospital a good few time the last time i was in hospital i was in there for 4 weeks and they still done nothing for me,i signed a consent form 3 times to get operation but they cancelled every time said i had too much morphine in my system and that was the reason they didn’t want to operate,i was up again since then and all they offered is epidural i got that and pain was back within a wk of injection i am so fed up i can not do much with my life i have 2 kids sean and shannon and it kills me that i can not play with them my wife is doing everything in the house i do not feel like a man at all. i had a MRI and my L5 is giving me all the pain it has moved 12 centimeters i have been on 18 tablets a day. but i have not taken them in a long time i feel so sick when i was on them.i am 34 years of age but feel like an 80 year old when i walk, i cant get out of bed in the mornings.i used to be a builder and i am 6ft 6ins in height 120kilos

    Your description sounds like you suffer from an isthmic spondylolisthesis (“my L5 is giving me all the pain it has moved 12 centimeters”). I understand the surgeons reluctance to operate when you are taking high doses of narcotic but if you have this diagnosis, an operation could very well be indicated.
