I had a t5-10 spine fusion 7 months ago. Still have a fair amount of pain at the site & difficulty deep breathing. Can the latter be due to the fusion? I also had 9 ribs repaired with metal pins. Which do you think is most likely causing the breathing difficulties? Can spine fusion hardware be removed anytime in the future if it continues to cause pain? If so when is it safe? Many thanks

I assume that you had fractures that required the fusion surgery. Continued pain would lead me to think of non-union (pseudoarthrosis) or adjacent segment disease (wearing out of the non-surgery segments). Deep breathing problems can be much more difficult to diagnose. A pulmonary consultation would be the next step to consider as well as consideration of a CT scan of the thoracic spine.
