    Hello Dr. Corenman,
I’ve had chronic neck pain (70%) with arm involvement (30%) going on 10 years.
    Most recent MRI 02/29/2012:
    Impression –
    1. C5/C6 level broad based annular bulge and right uncovertebral joint osteophytic spurring cause flattening of the ventral surface of the cord and moderate right foraminal narrowing.
    2. At the C6/C7 level broad based annular bulge causes ventral cord flattening

Findings: Reversal of normal cervical lordosis. No focal alingment abnormality. Mild discogenic related marrow endplate changes adjacent to the C6/C7 disc space. No neoplastic marrow replacement.
Degenerative disc changes at C5-C6 and C6-C7.

While I do not have the previous MRI of 8/25/06- there were no issues beyond the C5/C6 so my disease has progressed to the C6/C7.

I have constant and consistent pain/spams in the neck, jaws, headaches regularly, very little range of motion ear to shoulder, chin to shoulder, parasthesis (sp) in predominately right hand but some in left, burning in shoulders etc..

I’ve had varying consults with orthopedic spinal docs – some encouraging C4-C7 fusion, others telling me to “wait it out”. I’ve had PT, amitriptyline, chiro, facet injections, accupuncture, epidurals, Medial branch blocks, radio frequency ablation, to no relief. I am on vicodin, soma, as well as two antidepressents zoloft and effexor. With the length of pain, conservative treatment, and the impact on my life and work, could I be a potential candidate for fusion? Do you feel it would aid in relief of my pain?

Hi Dr. Corenman, I’m curious if I posted this incorrectly? I see numerous responses to newer posts and don’t know if I should repost in a different manner.

    Respectively
    Lori
