    Good Evening Doctor

Myself Suneel Pathak from New Delhi, India. I met with in an accident in the year 1990 and got fracture in spine i.e. LI & L2. Due to that myl left leg got fully paralyzed and right up to knee. Dr. Arvind Sxsena a Orthopedic surgeon treat me. He covered a plaster round my spine and asked to take bed rest for atleast three months. So I was on be for three months. After that he gave me belt to support my spine. I started my routine life even I played cricket as a fast bowler.

But I got another problem i.e. leakage of urine and difficulty to pass stool after a gap of period of ten years of my injury.

Now the problem is arising day by day and there is no control of urine plus difficulty to pass stool. Even during sleeping I don’t know how my urine out without knowing me. I cant travel in bus or car due to non-control of urine.

I met with various neurosurgeons in New Delhi and even visited Spine Hospital situated in Vasant Vihar, New Delhi, India. After seeing my MRI reports doctor suggested that the problem is due to pressed nerve and they are unable to go for operation because it is risky and it may fully paralysis. Further, at the time of sex urine passes out but errection is full no doubt.

It is requested to inform whether there is a treatment of control of urine and stool. I can be treated or not to spend a normal life.

    Thanks & regards

    Suneel pathak

It sounds like this bowel and bladder problem is a new issue that was not present from the initial accident. Is this fact true?

If that is so, you have an unstable L1-2 that is compressing the end of the spinal cord (the conus medularis located at the level of the L1 vertebra). The conus medularis is the point at the end of the spinal cord that controls bowel and bladder function. You need imaging to confirm this compression and then a decompression and fusion to take care of this disorder. Do not hesitate to research this condition as timeliness is important to get this condition treated and allow the best possible recovery.
