I saw my neurosurgeon and he says my neck and back pain is from arthritis. He asked if I have pain down the arm and I said yes, but it comes and goes. He still doesn’t recommend more surgery. He wants me to go back to physical therapy and also buy a stand up desk and use a cervical pillow. He doesn’t want me to get the nerve stimulator or anymore injections at this time. I tried the cervical pillow last night and woke up with neck soreness and a major headache. I guess I have to get use to it. I think my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Fibromyalgia makes all other illnesses, issues and diagnoses more complicated. I know PT can aggravate fibromyalgia so that is tricky too.
Based on the latest MRI’s do you think I should get a second opinion?
Also, because of my choking on liquids, I am having a modified barium swallow done that my neurologist ordered.
Your radiologist notes: “Stable anterior C5-6 fusion. Stable C5-6 annular bulging, degenerative buckling of ligamentum flavum, moderate central and bilateral foraminal stenosis. Stable small C4-5 central disc herniation, mild C6-7 annular bulging, and new small C7-T1 disc herniation”. I would agree with your surgeon that you don’t seem to need further surgery. I agree with you that “my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Fibromyalgia makes all other illnesses, issues and diagnoses more complicated”.
If you have facet mediated pain however, you can use facet blocks and rhizotomies (RFA) to control thie pain. This would require a precise examination and positive diagnostic blocks. See:
