    Hi Dr. Corenman

I made a bad car accident in August 2009, and i got surgery on my neck they put titanium on my c2-c3. I have the report. I did not have any problem during this 3 years but 10 days ago i got neck pain. it is back side of the neck on right side. When I move my neck to left side i do not have any problem but when i move right down side or upper right side i have strong pain. I can not even recognize where the pain coming from. it is around back of my neck slightly right not my shoulder. I though maybe i slept in wrong position but after 10 days i have still pain. Maybe it is muscle spasm. i had similar problem before but they were not strong like this and they passes within 1 or 2 day. Do you think it is related with that titanium or is it just muscle spasm ?

If you had a fusion of C2-3 using a titanium plate for stabilization three years ago, it is unlikely that this plate is causing any problems. Your pain is most likely not from muscle spasm. Muscle spasm is generally a result of other problems (degenerative disc disease, facet disorders or nerve root compression).

That is the great thing about the spine. Problems that are not severe can remedy themselves without care.
