He should have a plan to fuse only so many levels before surgery. He should be able to tell you that his plan is to fuse C2 to C3 and if he has to, go down to C4. Going down to C7 is a bit more than should be necessary.
Good luck.

What do you think of me sending this e-mail to him? Will he get mad?
Or should I call his secretary?
It was so nice to see you at my appointment August 8/13. It was a lot to take in. I have instability at c2 and c3.
Wondering what your plan is before surgery? Think it is to fuse C2 TO C3 and go to down to C4 is needed.
Going down to c7 is a bit more than necessary. Can’t remember what you said.
thanks Carol WallerHere is what I wrote to my ns.

Going down to C7 wouldn’t be necessary.

call him if I get pins and needles/numbness2nd visit Aug8/13…would not be paralyzed, arm and leg weakness/pins/needles/numbness, doesn’t know if surgery would help me.
Can’t tell me if I should have it or not, can’t tell me if I will be able to drive or not, may need laminectomy, doesn’t know what he has to do until he gets in there. He kept saying I don’t know. He never sat down but stood up with a intern the whole time.
My pain is mostly under control now and I am thinking I will cancel until things get worse or the pain cannot be handled. I am not comfortable at all and I feel he should have a plan and he doesn’t. He is away until Sept 3 but I sent him a e-mail message a couple of days ago. Thanks carol
ps found out we are allowed a second opinion with a NS here in NOVA SCOTIA My family doctor comes back the end of the month and I am going to ask for a second opinion. thanks carol -
