If my flexion xrays turn out good do you think I will still need surgery with c2 and c3? thanks CarolThe slip of 5mm means that the facets at the C2-3 level have failed. Do you need surgery? This is always a decision that you need to make with the understanding of the pros and cons of surgery vs. the risks of living with a possible unstable neck.
Obviously, I have not seen your imaging studies so this is all conjecture. If your facets and disc were very arthritic and you developed bone spurs that interdigitated creating stability, this might allow you to live with this disorder without severe risk. If the flexion/extension studies revealed motion of the two vertebra, this would indicate more risk.
