hello Dr. corenman. my name is Chris . I contacted you for some advise about 7 years ago regarding a bilateral pars injury that happened on L3 L4. it was a work injury.. I opted not to have surgery at the time but have been in pain ever since I’m a 45 year old firefighter who was injured on the job on a fall. since then I’ve done every procedure . epidurals on all levels and facet blocks and ablations of all levels. I’ve had discogrsms and emgs but nothing is difinative regarding my pain. can it be my injury is still not stable and might need a fusion. I’m torn with this but only get refered to pain clinics. please advise. thank you. One doctor at the time was going to fuse 3 this 5. Is it still possible that it never healed? I have a 5Mm anthro and retro combined grade one spondy.

By the sounds of how this L3-4 level is behaving (5mm anthro and retro combined grade one spondy”), these fractures did not heal. Don’t feel bad as they rarely do heal.If you have instability (as it looks like you do), then you probably are looking at a fusion.
