Hello dr.corenman ive been suffering from lower back pains for 6 years now from a fall off a tractor trailer.my pains cause my legs to become weak and shakie like they want to give out with sharp stabbing pains from my lower back to my neck that also cause my leg to go numb if you could help explain my mri to me in laymens terms along with treatment advise and medication i was put on a muscle relaxer and a steriod and a anti-infamatory which caused me to get coloitis your help would be greatly appreciated.
There is minor decrease in disc height involving the l3-l4 disc.mild to moderate decrease in disc height is seen involving the l5-s1 disc.some associated with decrease in t2 signal intensity is seen involving the l4-l5 disc and l5-s1 discs.findings are consistent with disc desiccation.mild hypertrophy of the ligamentum flavum is seen from l3-l4 down to l5-s1.the conus is unremarkable ending posteriorly to l1.at the l3-l4 level there is a mild broad based disc bulge.there is no central canal stenosis.at the l4-l5 level there is a moderate sized broad based disc bulge.there is no central canal stenosis.dorsal hyperintensity is seen involving the disc at this level likely secondary to a tear/fissure. Minor lateral extension of disc is seen into the foramina bilaterally at the l4-l5 and l5-s1 levels.
